INTERNET
RELATED
My internet related skills include web site development, web
programming, and server/client application. I like to use Java
Script, VB Script, ASP, or PHP to do most of the web programming,
while the server/client applications are mostly developed in Visual
Basic, Java, or C++ environment.
PROGRAMMING
While I use C++ to develop
most backend procedures, Visual Basic remains the first choice for
application level development. I also might use Java for some web
related programming.
NETWORK ENGINEERING
Wiring up a few dozen switch ports to their CAT5 outlets and
correctly hook up everything in a rack full of routers, switches and
rack-mount servers can be a little frustrating sometimes. But
you just can bit the feeling of when every little led on the
switches blinking harmonically and all the daemons in the servers
are running as expected. My experience in network engineering
ranges from configuring Cisco routers and firewall units to managing
UNIX servers and Linux workstations.
LAN ADMINISTRATION
Before the NT-days, most of the client level networks I have set up
are Netware-based server with DOS/Windows 3.x as the clients.
I started to use the NT platform when Windows 95 was launched.
Now, my LAN administration experiences come from Windows NT/2000
networks, including database server such as SQL, web server such as
IIS, and mail server such as Exchange.
REPAIR & TROUBLESHOOTING
Involved in computer retail business for over 7 years, PC repair and
troubleshooting experiences became one of my most valuable skills
accumulated over the time. From XT machines to Pentium 4's, I
have hands-on experiences with most hardware used in a computer,
including motherboard, hard drives, and adapter cards, etc.
GRAPHICS DESIGN
Being the major hobby of mine, I am improving my graphics
design skills as the time goes on. Having taken some basic
design classes, I understand many of the basic principles in
graphics design and try to apply them to my design works.
